The Islesboro PTCA fosters strong partnerships among families, educators, and the community to support every student’s growth, enrich learning opportunities, and strengthen the connection between our school and island life.

A small group of parents and community members has come together to launch the Islesboro Parent Teacher Community Association – the Islesboro PTCA – a volunteer organization dedicated to supporting our school, celebrating our teachers, and connecting the people of this island around the education of our children.

We believe that in a community this small and this connected, we have something most schools only dream about – the ability for every family, neighbor, and islander to play a genuine role in the life of our school. The PTCA is how we make that happen together.

We are just getting started, and we want to hear from you. If you have questions or are a parent or community member who would like to join our group, please email us at islesboroptca@gmail.com.

Our Goals

Build Bridges

Create regular, welcoming opportunities for parents, teachers, students, and community members to connect, communicate, and build relationships across generations and roles.

Support the Classroom

Provide meaningful assistance to teaching staff through resources, recognition, and hands-on support that makes their work a little easier and their efforts more visible.

Enrich Student Learning

Develop and sponsor programs, events, and experiences that extend learning beyond the classroom; drawing on the island’s unique environment, history, and people as resources.

Strengthen Community Ties

Serve as a connector between the school and the broader island, so that Islesboro Central School is understood, valued, and actively supported by the whole community.

Communicate Openly

Keep all stakeholders informed and engaged through clear, consistent, and honest communication so that no family or staff member ever feels out of the loop.

Grow Sustainably

Build an organization that is welcoming to new participants, manageable for volunteers, and designed to last so that the PTCA remains a steady presence for years to come.
